Embodied

This is what embodied work feels like.

Most of us have been taught to think our way through difficulty and to analyse what we feel – somatic work starts somewhere different.

Somatic approaches recognise that our nervous system, our posture, our breath, our impulses and our patterns of holding are not separate from our psychology. They are our psychology, written in flesh and bone.

We are embodied beings, and healing that honours that is healing that lasts.

If you’ve spent time with horses — riding, caring, just being — you’ve already been here. Horse people don’t need to be introduced to embodied experience.

What somatic work does is bring that same quality of presence, attunement and nervous system intelligence into intentional, held therapeutic space — so that what horses have always offered – becomes available for everyone.

EFSL is an educational and personal-growth approach where humans interact with horses on the ground (no riding) to develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and communication skills. It focuses on somatic (body-centered) experiences, using the horse’s natural sensitivity to provide immediate, unbiased feedback on a person’s physical and emotional state.

  • Emotional Regulation: Participants learn to communicate effectively with their own nervous systems by practising mindfulness and breath-work during interactions
  • Boundary Setting: Working with such a large animal requires clear, calm, and assertive energy. It teaches individuals how to set and maintain healthy personal boundaries
  • Trauma Healing: By tuning into bodily experiences rather than just talking, individuals learn to process and release stored stress or trauma in a safe space.

We have two embodied programs

Some youngsters are carrying a lot.

The anxiety that spikes before school. The restlessness that won’t settle. The big feelings that arrive without warning and leave everyone exhausted. The sense of being out of step — with classmates, with the classroom, with their own body.

Talking about it doesn’t always help. Sometimes the body needs to learn first.

Find out the details below.

You manage. You show up. You do what needs to be done.

But somewhere underneath the doing, there is a tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix. A tension that yoga helps but doesn’t resolve. A sense of living in your head, in your lists, in the next thing — while your body waits patiently.

You’ve talked about it. You’ve journalled about it. You may have done therapy.

Find out the details below.

  • carries chronic stress or anxiety
  • feels disconnected from their physical self — numb or out of touch with their body signals
  • is working through trauma and needs to first and gently build capacity and regulation-skills – before engaging with deeper personal development work
  • wants to develop practical, take-home tools for living a more regulated daily life
  • is seeking an experience of presence, calm, and peace
  • wants to slow right down and be held by Horses, inviting deep rest and reset
